The Alwa Foundation Resource Centre
The Alwa Foundation is a Community Based Resource Centre (CBC, not for profit) for Supporting and improving literacy and Learning in Primary and Secondary schools through Information and Communication Technology and Empowerment of out of school youth especially young mothers with knowledge and skills.
It is registered by the District Local Government (AL/CS021/17/013) and is self-governing. ( Link to the Uganda website AlwaFoundationUG.org )
The Centre started as a community library in 2008 in the Family house that provided assorted textbooks, novels, story books and newsletters with income from their savings. During holidays, several primary pupils and secondary school students started attending in overwhelming numbers to access the then small facility, this being the only Library in the district to-date. It is located in Alwa ‘A’ village, Abalang Parish, Alwa Sub County, Kaberamaido district, Eastern Uganda and registered at Kaberamaido District as a Community Based Organization.

Alwa Foundation Inc. is the California US based non-profit founded to assist our US donors donate to the Alwa Foundation Resource Center, and is a federal and state registered tax-exempt non-profit, formed March 2022. What we do
- HIV /AIDS. Create awareness on HIV/AIDS prevention within the community.
- Contribute to quality Primary, secondary and higher levels of education through a well-stocked library and computer laboratory.
- Provide skills to out-of school girls through their tailoring department.
- Alwa foundation also develops capacity of the teachers and cultivate new teachers through especially designed training ,workshops and Community
- Alwa foundation is bridging literacy gap one child at a time by trying to address issues of teenage Pregnancy, early marriage, economic factors among others by providing information to especially the girls
